Amor Fati

love your fate
but follow
your dreams
those rainbows
in uncertain skies
be in awe
of nature
for it has been
gifted to you
love love
love your life
it is your
fate

Drawing Circles

reflections of you
float upon the still water
lightning dances in the clouds
distant thunder rolls over the hills

soon the rain will fall
stealing across the valley
to draw circles on the lake
distorting the illusion

The Spider and the Moon

Time and death
are shadows,
emotional threads,
of thought
darker, emptier
than the
shadows
they throw

A silent venom
that spins
a web
weaving dreams
from moonbeams
that vanish
like dew
in the dawn

A Love Unloved

you are
the page unturned
the fire unburned
the letter unsent
the tears unspent
you are
the song unsung
the violin unstrung
the poem unwritten
the words unspoken
you are
the seed unsown
you are
 love... unknown

Halloween

Bonfires crackle
and cackle
at wandering ghouls
and a freak
children scream
and shriek
lured by treats
they take to the streets
going where they
couldn't, wouldn't
 shouldn't
shadows follow
filling every corner
and hollow
with fright
shadows unseen
on this night
of Halloween

Paint the Wind

Paint the wind
with dove grey wings
so I may snare
and cage it
before the trees
hear all the things
I told the wind
in secret

For secrets
cast long shadows
that don't melt
into the sun
and leaves
will fall
like burning
tears
before the fall
is done

Well Fair Summer farewell

Quote by John Keats:- "i almost wish we were butterflies and lived but three summer days - three such days with you i could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain"

one word is a seed
from which many
could grow
thoughts spring
like weeds
from which i
could sow
wild rambling prose
or poems with
rhyme
but summer like
the rose
fades with time

You Fill My Senses

you are
the gentle caress
of wind
on my lips
the tender kiss
of dew
on dawn's bareness
the warm sunrise
on my sleepy
eyes
the summer
rain upon
my nakedness
an oasis
in the desert
of passion
you fill my senses
with sweet
temptation

The Temptation of Dreams

I saw in your eyes
a blinding vision
a passion, a fire
a spark of desire
But nothing is
what it seems

The temptation
 of dreams
The final illusion

Trapped inside
a memory
I wish I could
make you see
make you feel
make it real

Darken my eyes
Set me free

Tough Love

he is a small town boy
in love with
the city
since he could crawl
he knew about tough love
what a pity
it is he didn't
get enough love
to see him through
he comes home
with gum
on the sole of his shoe
he side steps
the spit
the pavement pizza
and dog shit
he's in love with
the city
the neon lights
the fly by nights
the pub fights
the girls in tights
oh, so pretty
what a pity
it is he mumbles
when he talks
he stumbles
when he walks
he knows about
rough love
what a pity
it is he doesn't
get enough love
to see him through
he comes home
with gum on the sole
of his shoe
he plays the guitar
like a real rock star
he weeps melodies
to the junkies
in the allies
until the homeless bitch
who once was rich
screams her obscenities
he knows about tough love
what a pity
it is he doesn't get
enough love
to make him whole
to see him through
he's in love with the city
he comes home
with gum
on the sole of his shoe
as he pulls the cardboard
over his head
he says
Lord thank you
for this bed
 if anyone should ask
he said
 I'm not homeless
I'm not alone
I'm waiting for my Father
to call me home

Love Was So Much Simpler Then

love was so much simpler then

cross my heart and hope to die
should i ever tell a lie
criss-cross for ever and ever

everyone thought you'd be the one
but over time everything changes
we grew up and then grew apart
drawn in crayon, carved in wood
our names inside a big red heart
criss-cross for ever and ever

a little cross marks the place where we lay
gazing at the stars, and at the moon
as it traveled across the night sky
dreaming our lives, living our dreams
we'd be together till we die
 criss-cross for ever and ever

hide and seek and count to ten
love letters and the alphabet
wishing wont bring you back again
still, i haven't forgotten you yet
 criss-cross for ever and ever

love was so much simpler then

The Spider and The Bee

She thought of him~
all night long
she spun a web of
her finest silk
and then
waited for him

She watched him~
all day long
she dreamed of him
her hero with
beautiful wings

The sound of him
hypnotised her
she rushed to meet him
shrouding him in sheets
of her finest silk

Now he was all hers
he had never noticed her
if only she had wings
she could fly with him
amongst the flowers

Chasing Rainbows

lover come
dance with me
in the shadow
of dreams and reality
there we'll
chase rainbows
watch the stars
twinkle between
our toes
we'll plant
kisses
cover them
with moonbeams
and other
heavenly things
and lover
you know
our love
may just grow

How To Fly

First you would need these things
they are called wings
drop right and lift left to turn left
like so - the tail is for steering and slowing down
Got it? now spread you wings
here goes! now fly, fly with the wind! Like so....
oops!
These shots were taken of a wood pigeon sunbathing after having a bath :))

The Dark Side

the dark side lies
where the raven flies
at dusk
and rises at dawn
where dreams are born
from bones and dust
and naught is as it seems
where love and lust
are blurred
and promises slurred
by unwept tears
there secrets hide
defiling the years
like quiescent embryos
they cling to the dark side
while paranoia echoes

The Restless Wind

Tether my soul
to the restless wind
that heeds
no light
nor dark
that I may hark
the dawn of verse
as it's born
rippling through
the grass
that I may witness
the golden rays
of a sonnet
upon the wings
of a gull
and hear
the breathless lull
of poetry
as the sun sets
on the sea

Huginn and Muninn

Thought takes flight
on raven's wing
to rest in nest
of twig and feather
knit and twined
and bound together
In age old yarn
memory is buried
stacked and racked
to be lost forever
©Rose
These are my two beautiful fourth generation ravens. the first juveniles of this season. I have named them Huginn and Muninn (Thought and Memory) (You might not see Muninn in the top right conrner of the image.)
The names I borrowed from Norse Mythology  with Odin having two Ravens one to be his eyes and  the other to be his ears.
I have been a bit out of ink lately , you know what it's like when you wake up with words in your head so sure you will remember them but when you actually get the time to write they have flown the coop!  Well this is a bit about that and them. and me. My most favourite bit of Raven mythology must surely be the one where the Raven was white and stole the sun, moon, stars, and water and fire. The raven was seen as the bringer of light.

No Longer Afraid

Your sighs tame the wind
weaving your whispers
through my hair
i am no longer afraid
to love

Your heartbeat measures
the silence of the night
i am no longer afraid
of the dark

Your embrace warms
the cold hours before dawn
i am no longer afraid
to dream

Rain On Me

Standing in the
falling rain
I tremble
like the rose
drenched in the dawn
that lifts her face
and spreads
her leaves
to hide her thorns
I stand in the
falling rain
just to feel
your touch again

The Aura Of You

Spellbound
by the enchantment
of this moment
I drift into a reverie
meandering through
a labyrinth
of emotions
that breathe life
into my soul

Charmed
by the pure elation
the ecstasy and
the magic of
the aura of spring
I am reminded
of a moment
when
I gazed into
your eyes and
my soul
danced

Welcoming Spring!

The gentle cascade
of cherry blossom petals
spills to the ground
- tears of joy -
welcoming you!
And I recall:-
Your gentle whispers
the warmth of your breath
 upon my cheek...
Your sweet melody
the notes of your song
tangled in my hair...
Your delicate embrace
the essence of your perfume
wafting all around me..
And I too welcome you!

Love Is

Love is
the silence
before the storm
the awakening
before passion
is born
Love is
the sigh
of the wings
of a butterfly
the gentle
arousal
which kindles
the tempest

The Sky Danced

Reflections
on a blue sky
recall
the long hot summers
We were so high
on love
swathed in the
mirth of the cicadas' song
as it rose and fell
and floated
all around us
in our hair
in our hearts
Under our feet
the sky danced
enchanted
by the mirth
of the cicadas' song
which reeled
in the blue
until the sky bled
Red flames
devoured the blue
tainted the hue
spewing the
silence of
darkness
all around us

Maybe She'll Love You

maybe she'll love you
how i should have
how i could have
how i would have
had you allowed me to
you made me feel small
while you walked tall
and didn't care at all
they say
pride comes before a fall
they say
it happens all the time
they say
there's a thin line
between happiness and misery
they say
there's a fine line
between delusion and reality
perhaps it's your destiny
another opportunity
another chance
another romance
maybe she'll love you
if you'll allow her to

Lullaby

the lay
of the wind
on a sparrow's
wing
as it flies
to it's nest

the glee
of the sun
on the boughs
of a tree
as it sinks
in the west

the madrigal
of a lucent moon
as it rises
in the sky

a medley
of melodies
the lilt of
a lullaby

Dreams

dreams
shredded fragments
pale as the moon
flutter like
flimsy apparitions
to be snarled
and snared
in the shadows
of nightmares
futile fantasies
tangled in
complex
mind games
waning
wilting
withering
beneath
the veil
of delusion

Your Whispers Echo

Between the boundaries
of dreams and nightmares
your whispers echo
drawing me away
from reality
into phantasmic
realms
where truth and lies
walk hand in hand
Your whispers echo
where desire knows
no beginning
no end
Your whispers echo
where love is
but sweet words
on angels wings
Your whispers echo
where lost lovers
paper the walls
with images
and old love letters
Your whispers echo
chanting love spells
in the shadows
of my dreams

Dearth

each beat of my heart measures
your footsteps
as you turn around and walk away
from me
this time it seems it will be the
last time
I wind the old clock standing in
the hall
pious hope to wish and wait for you
to return
listening to the tick-tock of the
old clock
each beat of my heart measures
your silence

Sunset

As day lies
cradled
in the blush
of evening pastels
Night unfurls
her dusky wings
Sweeping shadows
and night shade
gently gathering
the darkness
