The Silence

She looked at him
and wondered
what it was
she was supposed to feel

Contempt?
Sorrow perhaps?
But she only felt
the numbness
inside of her

He stopped talking
Perhaps waiting
for a response

She looked at him
and wondered
what it was
she was supposed to say

He spoke louder
Perhaps to invoke a response
Perhaps to force her to listen
Perhaps to fill the silence

But she only heard
the silence
Only felt the numbness
 Coiling tightly
inside her

Holding her,
Binding her,
to the silence
between his words
where she felt safe

And The Bees Are Glad

A cataclysm of luminous gaiety
gilds the lea with joy -
I smile -
my heart is stilled and warmed

Like the languid sun that hides
behind fair weather clouds
I am weakened in awe

But my spirit has risen
with the spring wind
and taken flight

And the bees are glad

I, Dandelion

Avid gardeners cuss and frown upon me
Some eat my leaves, slightly bitter but tasty
Others dry my roots for a heart-warming tea
With flowers I welcome the cute honey bee
(So, there is more to me than the weed you see)
My colour is so yellow, beautiful and bright
I've been likened to a little kiss of light
I am no posh rose nor graceful daffodil
But I still look sweet upon a windowsill

The Mermaid's Song

Welcome lover to my nightmare
just a short walk down the stone stair
Slip into the grave waves with me
to the treasures under the sea

I'll dress you in fitting attire
With fish hooks and rusty wire
On my lips and kisses you'll taste
your poisons and chemical waste

My embrace you'll never forget
much more tight than a fishing net
Come my lover heed my sweet song
for I've been lovesick far too long

I Wrote You A Poem

I wrote you a poem (left unread)
So I wove you a dream instead
I caught the wind in the forest
And chased the rain on the river
I collected dew from the dawn
And captured the gentle quiver
of lilting birdsong in the morn

I spun heaven into your dreams
with bits of sky ever so blue
And wisps of silvery moonbeams
Spun with stars and a twilight hue

I wrote a poem for you
Nothing to cling to
Nothing to give or take
No keepsake

A Love Unloved

you are
the page unturned
the fire unburned
the letter unsent
the tears unspent
you are
the song unsung
the violin unstrung
the poem unwritten
the words unspoken
you are
the seed unsown
you are
 love... unknown

If

If I could steal the colours of dawn
Every shade of the morn and every hue
Of each beautiful new day that's born
I would my love give them all to you
If I could wrap dewdrops in rainbows
Every single twinkling drop of dew
On each tender petal of the rose
I would my love gift them all to you
The breath of air under eagle's wings
The smell of the earth after the rain
The first sweet song that a bird sings
The sands of the desert, every grain
I would give you all of these fine things
If I could my love just see you again

The Rainbow Bridge

Where time and tide at sea are lost
And where the four wild winds lay crossed
She reaps the winds that storms do sow
And weaves the waves that ebb and flow
With fisher men's nets she catches soft sighs
And wishes and prayers from pale blue skies
She stitches and sews them with tidy seams
Her beautiful tapestries of sweet dreams
She gathers up sea spray to sprinkle as dew
Collecting bright colours of vivid hue
She makes an arc of ribbon above her
A bright rainbow bridge to guide her lover
And to make the stars that twinkle and shine
She saves all the tears she's cried over time

You Make Me Feel

you are trapped in my  mind
in the maze of my dreams
haunting me

your whispers brush my cheek
and get tangled in my hair
tormenting me

your touch melts my heart
and scorches my soul
torturing me

your kiss leaves me breathless
and words die on my lips
confusing me

your eyes leave me vulnerable
and naked before you
shaming me

your gaze grazes my skin
and I embrace the pain
you make me feel
punishing me

you make me feel

No One Home

you don't call me back
maybe you lost my number
maybe you lost more than that
the clock's lost its chime
maybe I can't remember
maybe I just lost track of time
days slide into long nights
maybe I don't know the difference
anymore
maybe I turn on the lights
and leave them on all day
maybe people at the door
will eventually go away
maybe the lights are on
but no one's home
maybe I'm not alone

Heliotropism

Flaxen haired maiden
From dawn until dusk
You follow the sun
From east to west
Horizon to horizon
Your gaze unwavering
Savouring his heat
Eliciting his passion
When gratified and
Pregnant with seed
You bow
Your furrowed head
Forsaking Helios
Disdainfully
Eluding his glare

The Artist

Flesh tones blush upon his palette
The delicate stroke of a brush
Caresses the bare canvas
Anointing it with her essence
While he breathes in her beauty

Friends And Lovers

Friends and Lovers
I write this while your scent still lingers warm upon my skin
I watch you sleeping and wonder whose dreams you are in
I search for clever words to say, for memorable phrases to write
But the memory of our loving still glows in dawn's feint light

The whispers that fell on my pillow have risen with the dawn
And the kisses that tumbled from our lips are no longer warm
And all the while I wonder - is this the beginning or the end
If last night we were lovers - how could we still be friends

Tiny Jewels

ragged thorns
penetrate skin
dew and tears
tiny jewels
drop
tempering
blood
imbued with
melancholy
clenched fists
tighten round
the roses
while pain
dances
through
the blur
of spiralling
colour

Embers

he bears his passion
to the winds who sow
the smouldering embers
embedding their spores
into celestial wombs

in the wake of his fervour
lustrous constellations
are born
bearing witness
to love

Tainted Sky

i guess
there will be
no tears
in heaven
just
a moon
and
stars
wounding
a
tainted
sky

These shots were taken on the 19th December 2010.  I was enthralled by the colour of the clouds as they passed over the moon.

Why Cry

the sun spills
blood red
across the sky
dying to live
living to die
you mourn the dawn
you curse the morrow
forget your scorn
forget your sorrow
I'll cry you a rainbow
dying to live
living to die
why cry

You Said...

the sun was shining in our eyes
you said 'everything will be alright you'll see'
we built castles in the sand until the tide came
and took them away
you said 'everything will  be ok'
we built castles in the sky until the sun set
at the end of the day
you said 'everything is gonna be alright'
we lay and watched the stars until the clouds came
and danced in the rain
you said 'everything will be alright'
Yet we knew nothing would be the same

Unsung Melody

my love for you is
an unsung melody
the birth of a butterfly
the rising moon
the dark before dawn
can you hear the silence
of love's beautiful song

When Darkness Falls

When Darkness Falls

Let the night fold around me
Damp mantle upon my skin
Warm breath upon my body
Stirring the venus within

Let the webbed wings of shadow
Weave darkness through my hair
Let me fade into the night
My lover awaits me there

He will hold me and kiss me
Bathe me in pale moonlight
Brush the darkness from my hair
And make love to me all night

Cradling me in loving arms
He'll be holding back the night
Until my dreams awake me
Let me fade into his light
