A Windy Day (Southend-on-Sea)

Masts 

protrude

erect and naked

from berthed hulls

Flagrantly probing

the cloudy skies

Penetrating the cries

 of squabbling seagulls

 their pink feet

dangling

they wobble in

the wind

above the

flaccid sea

the sun was shining in our eyes
you said 'everything will be alright you'll see'
we built castles in the sand until the tide came
and took them away
you said 'everything will  be ok'
we built castles in the sky until the sun set
at the end of the day
you said 'everything is gonna be alright'
we lay and watched the stars until the clouds came
and danced in the rain
you said 'everything will be alright'
Yet we knew nothing would be the same
