Haunting Moments

snuggled together in the

afternoon

reading poetry in my

bedroom

making love through the

colours of sunset

you my romeo me your

juliet

scattered between the

pages of poetry

are these haunting moments

of you and me

Romance, Romance ...

...wherefore art thou Romance

if not alive in the heart of man

where dost thou hide

could thee be buried betwixt

the yellowed leaves of an olde novel

or lie thee brittle and fragile

amongst the shallow lines

of a paperback book

pray that it not be

that man has laid thee 

there to rest

let that not be the

 saddening truth

Alas! what fate man has

bestowed upon thee!

how shameful to be so

forsake!

 would that it not be so...

but that thou beest in

the melody of the dewy dawn

 in the sonnet of hues at sunset

 in the poetry of the pure pearly moon

or 

that thou hath concealed thyself 

in the petals of a rose

tenderly pressed to lovers' lips..

Romance, art thou sleeping there

waiting for love to awaken thee

with a kiss

ripe and luscious

tempting words

that float

and stray

and linger

a while

to glisten

in your

ice wreathed

eyes

Love Was So Much Simpler Then

love was so much simpler then

 

cross my heart and hope to die

should i ever tell a lie

criss-cross for ever and ever

everyone thought you'd be the one

but over time everything changes

we grew up and then grew apart

drawn in crayon, carved in wood

our names inside a big red heart

criss-cross for ever and ever

a little cross marks the place where we lay

gazing at the stars, and at the moon

as it traveled across the night sky

dreaming our lives, living our dreams

we'd be together till we die

 criss-cross for ever and ever

hide and seek and count to ten

love letters and the alphabet

wishing wont bring you back again

still, i haven't forgotten you yet

lover come 

dance with me

in the shadow

chase rainbows

watch the stars

twinkle between 

our toes

with moonbeams

hearts have grown
cold as stone
forgotten is
the yellow

turbulent waters
swirl and sweep
a vortex
of sorrow
too dark and
too deep
to reflect it

remembers

The wind sings it's mournful song
to the full moon
veiled in it's dark mantle.

rains grey upon the day
an apathetic sun
