The Mermaid's Song

Welcome lover to my nightmare
just a short walk down the stone stair
Slip into the grave waves with me
to the treasures under the sea

I'll dress you in fitting attire
With fish hooks and rusty wire
On my lips and kisses you'll taste
your poisons and chemical waste

My embrace you'll never forget
much more tight than a fishing net
Come my lover heed my sweet song
for I've been lovesick far too long

  1. An incisive echologist poem, dear Rose.
My favourite stanza is the second one, so powerful!
The mermaid's revenge tempting her lover, a modern Ulysses (hope he's got some wax)
Her song is the best harpoon for his demise.
    The mermaid's name could be Moby-Dick or... Moby-Dock ;)
    (Very nice pic)

  3. Oh I simply adore this, Rose.
The legend of the mermaid imbued with a dire ecological warning!
This has awoken something deep within me...a kind of alarm bell ringing, and the picture is mesmerizing.
I am helplessly drawn down those steps...

  7. Sorry Rose, I missed this post.

Being a mermaid lover, regardless of warnings, I have to heed her call. I love the last stanza.
