There's An Elephant In The Room

There's an elephant
in the room
that needs talking about
But nobody wants to
start the conversation

Avoiding the situation
seems the best thing to do
Exchanging pleasantries
And everyone agrees
the weather is rough
this time of the year

There'll be time enough
tomorrow
to shed a sad tear
to wallow in sorrow
to bury their grief

But the elephant
still hides in the shadows
A silent thief

The Spider and the Moon

Time and death
are shadows,
emotional threads,
of thought
darker, emptier
than the
shadows
they throw

A silent venom
that spins
a web
weaving dreams
from moonbeams
that vanish
like dew
in the dawn

Cathedral of Dreams

Summoned by the light
I follow in the shadow
Of the moon
Eclipsed
By the basilica
Ethereal,
Otherworldly.
Voices,
Whispers,
Murmurs,
Rise and fall,
Dip swoop,
Flutter,
Bats into the twilight.
I enter the cathedral
Of dreams.
The flagstones
Soothe my bloody feet.
The walls,
Hung with scrolls,
Of the dead
Of the dying
Of the living
Rise to a steeple
Too high to read
Yet I know
I am not among
The named
Nor of the dead
Nor of the dying
Nor of the living.
My weary eyes,
Blind with the light,
Are shut tight.
I hear myself scream
And know
I am named
On the scrolls
Of the unborn.

To Fate

your kiss
the foreshadow
of death
your words
a knife through my heart
your love
a poison chalice
I drink
deeply, greedily
to fate
