Partridges in a Pear Tree

Not exactly partridges in a pear tree but pigeons in the privets.  While these wood pigeons have an early morning feast on the berries it is quite amazing to watch them trying to balance their chubby bodies on the fine branches while choosing the juicyest fruits.

  1. Hi Rose. I'm new to your blog. I just left a comment on your poem in the post below but for some reason I don't think it sent. I wanted to acknowledge its haunting beauty. These photos are wonderful, too. For a minute there I thought they were partridges, not having seen them myself. I'm from Melbourne, Australia and came here via Janice at Jablog.

  2. Lovely photos, Rose. Yes wood pigeons can seem remarkably ungainly sometimes.

  5. Gorgeous photos Rose.
Pigeons are so amusing to watch. Just the other day one landed on the tiny uppermost branch of one of our fir trees. It's weight bent the branch down and there it hung, upside down, looking around as if to ask 'What happened here?'
