Matchstick Girl

Matchstick Girl
hear the forest call
The wind moans
around the trees
Under the leaves
the beetles crawl
Matchstick Girl
follow the sound
Around the trees
Under the leaves
Where the shadows fall
across the ground
Matchstick Girl
see the dancing flame
Around the trees
Under the leaves
Higher and higher
The blazing fire
Matchstick Girl
You'll get the blame
It's still the same
old wicked game
Matchstick Girl
that's your name

'Matchstick Girl
she started the fire!'
'Matchstick Girl
she's such a liar!'
'Lock her up till she dies!
She says she hears
the forest's cries!'

Matchstick Girl
It's not your fault
as you cannot fight
the elemental result
of this ancient rite

Matchstick Girl
dry your tears
truly blessed
is she who hears

  2. This image is superb. Did it inspire the verse? Or was it vice versa or neither. They are a matched pair. Lovely!
