Why?

you thought she was a demon
but she was an angel in disguise
didn't you see it in her eyes
she showed you your soul
she made you feel whole
didn't you see it in her eyes
why did you retreat
into her darkness
when she showed you
the light
the fire in your heart
why did you retreat
into her darkness
afraid of her passion
you said she was poison
afraid of her loving
you said she was lethal
her kisses laced with venom
numbed your dumb tongue
her whispers toxic vapour
suppressed your words
with your last breath
why do you curse her
when she showed you
the light
why did you retreat
into her darkness

Innocence

Naive and childlike
Innocence slumbers
Without duplicity
Without illusion
Without disguise
Innocence sleeps
Behind the charade
Of smoke and mirrors
Sans guile or deception
Innocence lies dormant
Artless
Without the perception
Of light and shade
To confuse and
To complicate
Innocence slumbers
Amidst memories
